Image: Dr. Sally Walker - Invertebrate Paleobiology Professor Dr. Sally provides real life experience for her GEOL 4010 “Life and Ecologies of the Past” students with field work conducted at Sapelo Island, GA. The principles of paleobiology course (including biostratigraphy, paleoecology, taphonomy, and macroevolutionary dynamics) have been annually attending the Sapelo Island Trip every fall since the mid 1990’s. Sapelo Island National Estuarine Research Reserve (SINERR) The 6,100 acres of the Sapelo Island National Estuarine Research Reserve (SINERR), located along the western perimeter of Sapelo, is dedicated to research, education, stewardship, and sound management of coastal resources.
