Rachel Rotz, UGA Geology Ph.D. candidate was awarded the Virginia Macagnoni Grant-in-Aid. This award is given by the beta sigma chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma (DKG), an International Society for Key Women Educators (http://dkg.org). One mission of the DKG society is to aid outstanding educators to pursue graduate study. The scholarship committee said they were thrilled to help Rachel in her pursuit for her doctorate and to hear about the impact she has on students. We are also proud to note that UGA faculty Dr. Marta Patino-Douce is an active member of the beta sigma chapter and we recognize her extraordinary efforts to maintain diversity among the ranks of geoscience education.
