On Saturday, March 19th, 5 volunteers from Dr. Marta Patiño-Douce’s GEOL 1121 class came together to clean up litter from the Lilly Branch watershed. The group started near a stormwater outfall where the stream flows under the E07 parking lot on East Campus and worked their way upstream to the Joe Frank Harris Commons area bus stop. The group picked up a total of 14 trash bags full of litter, including pulling out a discarded cooler from the stream! We are thrilled by the work that was done, and we are looking forward to our clean-up of Tanyard Creek on April 19th at 5 pm.
