Fulbright Scholar I am a nanomineralogist working on the alteration of minerals in rocks, sediment, and soils, particularly interested in the alteration of clay minerals. The aim of my research is mainly to understand the geochemical conditions under which clay minerals can undergo isomorphic substitution to become more stable, adsorb more organic molecules, and preserve them for long periods. Education Education: 2011-2015 Dr. rer. nat., Institute for Geophysics and Geology, Leipzig University, Germany 2008-2010 M.Sc., Geological exploration faculty/Sedimentology, Azerbaijan State Oil Academy, Azerbaijan 2001-2005 B.Sc., Geological exploration faculty/Hydrogeology and engineering geology, Azerbaijan State Oil Academy, Azerbaijan Research Research Areas: Geochemistry Research Interests: My current research includes: (i) Experimental investigation of brine-minerals interaction to understand possible isomorphic substitution in minerals under different geochemical conditions. (ii) Computer simulation of the interaction between antibiotics and smectite in soil at different salinity and pH conditions. (iii) Experimental study of the bio-weathering of smectite and mica group minerals to determine how the gut of earthworms accelerates changes in the minerals. (iv) Investigating palaeo-weathering in continents based on the major oxide composition of sediments and mineral assemblages, including clay minerals.
